Welcome, I'm Jess!

I'm a food loving, self-taught recipe developer living in Buffalo, New York with my husband Ben, (step) daughter Brooklynn, son Benny, and German Shepherd Rocco. I love to cook and can always be found in the kitchen creating something delicious. My family is more than happy to partake in the tasting!

For as long as I can remember I have loved food and cooking. Many of my childhood memories revolve around food. In my teens and twenties I have fond memories of going out to eat with friends, exploring types of cuisines. When travelling, one of my favorite things to do is to discover the local culinary favorites. I remember hosting dinner parties in my twenties for friends and I honestly think I won my husband over with my cooking. I don't think he will deny it! Food brings people together, unites them and brings them joy. My recipes are created for sharing and experiencing life together. Unless you want to eat the whole pan of brownies on your own, which is perfectly acceptable.

I grew up in family restaurants and was involved in all aspects of it, from cooking to managing to waiting tables. While I loved food and creating menu ideas, I was hesitant to pursue a culinary career knowing how demanding the schedule could be. In college it took me a while to figure out where my future was going – ultimately I fell in love with some education courses I took and the rest was history. Teaching children is another passion of mine and is another way I can express my creativity. My love for cooking never lessened. I declared myself "chef of my house" and for years that worked. I was busy with little ones and my young teaching career. I was satisfied. Learning my style, what works and what doesn't in the kitchen was a journey I had to take. Ultimately, I grew into the chef and creator I am today.

My style is eclectic. I love ethnic food with bright, bold flavors, but can still get behind a good casserole or pot of soul-filling soup. Browsing cookbooks, magazines, Pinterest, and Instagram along with visiting restaurants fuel me with inspiration and creativity. I am so happy to be here and hope you can feel that in my recipes. Enjoy every bite!
